GR1 Titanium Tube

Designed for critical applications, our GR1 Titanium Tubes (ASTM B338 compliant) provide superior resistance to seawater, acids, and chlorides, making them perfect for heat exchangers, desalination plants, and medical implants. Manufactured via cold rolling or seamless extrusion, these tubes ensure tight tolerances (±0.1mm) and smooth internal surfaces for optimal fluid flow. Available in polished, pickled, or passivated finishes, our GR1 tubes are easy to weld and form, reducing fabrication costs. Whether you need standard or custom sizes, we deliver high-purity titanium (99.5% Ti) with full ISO 9001 certification.

Why Choose GR1 Titanium Tubes?

Pure Titanium (99.5%) – Highest corrosion resistance among CP titanium grades.
Lightweight & Strong – 40% lighter than steel with excellent ductility for forming.
Biocompatible – Ideal for medical implants.
Weldability – Easy TIG/GTAW welding without cracking or contamination.
Cost-Effective – Lower price than alloyed grades (GR5, GR7) while maintaining performance.

Manufacturing Process

1. Raw Material Preparation

Titanium Sponge Selection: We source 99.6% pure titanium sponge (Fe<0.15%, O<0.18%) from certified suppliers

Vacuum Arc Remelting (VAR):

Sponge is compressed into electrodes

Triple melting process ensures homogeneity

Final ingot composition verified via OES (Optical Emission Spectroscopy)

2. Tube Formation Process

Seamless Tube Production:

Hot Extrusion:

Billet heating to 850-950°C in argon atmosphere

Glass lubrication for smooth surface

Extrusion ratio 10:1 to 40:1

Cold Pilger Rolling:

20-30% reduction per pass

Intermediate annealing at 650-700°C

Final dimensions ±0.05mm tolerance

Welded Tube Alternative:

Plate Rolling:

0.5-5mm thick sheets cold rolled to tube shape

Orbital TIG Welding:

Automated process with argon backing

Weld seam X-ray inspected (100% coverage)

Internal weld bead removal (for smooth bore)

3. Precision Finishing

Solution Treatment: 700°C for 1 hour (stress relief)

Pickling Process:

HNO3/HF acid bath (20%/3% concentration)

Ultrasonic cleaning after pickling

Surface Polishing:

Mechanical polishing to Ra 0.8μm (standard)

Electropolishing to Ra 0.4μm (medical grade)

4. Quality Control

Dimensional Inspection:

Laser micrometers (±0.01mm accuracy)

Wall thickness measured every 500mm

Non-Destructive Testing:

Eddy current testing (0.1mm defect detection)

Ultrasonic testing (for wall thickness variation)

Mechanical Testing:

Tensile tests every 5th tube

Hardness testing (HV scale)

5. Special Processing Options

Internal Bore Finishing:

Honing for hydraulic applications

Electropolishing for ultra-clean surfaces

Custom End Treatments:

Beveling for welding prep

Threading (metric/imperial)

Flange welding (ASME B16.9 compliant)
